Archaeological Association formed in Rajnandgaon district was established on 31/08/1977, whose registration number is 44, dated 07/08/1980. Archaeological institutions formed in the state is a senior institution. The Commissioner, Archeology and Museums is an important organization approved, directed and funded by the then Madhya Pradesh government. Their headquarters were formerly Indira Arts and Music University, Khairagarh.According to the instructions of the government, from 1987-88, the district headquarters operated in a room in the district office building of Rajnandgaon. Presently the newly constructed building is operated from 11/08/2008 by District Archaeological Association, Museum Honorable Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh Ji, Government of Chhattisgarh.

The plaster cast (replica) of the main archaeological site of Rajnandgaon district (ancient Shiva temple Gandai) has been displayed in the main part of the verandah of the first entrance gallery and the archaeological / tourist sites / princely state of Chhattisgarh state and Rajnandgaon district on the banks of the wall. Carpets are photographs / maps of kings.

The second statue gallery has 45 ancient statues and 05 metal statues stored in Rajnandgaon district and a plaster cast statue is displayed.

In the Third Archaeological Gallery, models of ancient coins, currencies, and stone tools, fossils and mineral resources of the district have been displayed.

The state-of-the-art weapon is displayed in the state of Rajnandgaon in the Fourth Arms Arms Gallery.

In the fifth tribal / folk art gallery, tribal / folk art related ornaments, costumes, hunting instruments, deities and instruments of Rajnandgaon district have been displayed.
