Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel today inaugurated the newly-built dedicated COVID Hospital and COVID Lab in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district via video conferencing from his residence office. Chief Minister congratulated everyone on inauguration of this new health facility. On the occasion, Chief Minister also announced establishment of new Oxygen Plant in the district. Health Minister Mr. TS Singhdev presided over the inaugural programme. On the occasion, 

Revenue Minister and District In-Charge Minister Mr. Jaysingh Agarwal, Lok Sabha MP Smt.Jyotsna Mahant, Marwahi MLA Dr. K. K. Dhruv, Forest Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar attended the programme online from the Chief Minister’s residence.

Chief Minister said that the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic is now on a downward slope in the entire Chhattisgarh and so in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district. Number of new patients is also decreasing, which is a matter of relief for all of us. But this does not mean that we can cut back on the precautions. Few months after the first wave, when COVID cases reduced, people became a little careless with the precations. But at present, we need to be extra careful to prevent the serious consequences.

Chief Minister said that the experts have predicted the third wave of COVID and have warned that the third wave would be more challenging than the second wave. But if we take proper precautions and be careful, then we can can successfully prevent the surge of third wave. Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi is the new district of Chhattisgarh with challenges of its own, but in spite of the challenges, we have successfully fought the COVID crisis with collective efforts. State government has rapidly mobilized resources to Gaurela -Pendra-Marwahi. Maximum number of people are being tested and proper treatment facility is being provided to the patients.

Mr. Baghel said that we would strongly combat this COVID crisis with collective and consolidated efforts. In the same sequence, a Dedicated COVID Hospital with 66-bed capacity has been established in district headquarter at the cost of Rs 30 lakh. This Hospital has been equipped with all the necessary facilities including ventilator. At present, the hospital has one ventilator, 4 machines, central oxygen pipeline, 150 oxygen cylinders. There are total 66 beds in this hospital including 44 general oxygen beds, 6 HDU bed and 6 ICU beds in this hospital. Six beds have been reserved for the treatment of pregnant, post and pre pregnant COVID patients. This hospital would be open 24×7. Team of seven doctors and six nurses have been appointed here. Chief Minister motivated people to wear mask, sanitize hands and practice social districting and also to take COVID vaccination.

 Health Minister Mr. T.S. Singhdev said that treatment facility for critical COVID patients would be provided in this hospital and the patients would not be referred to another district. This new hospital will further strengthen the infrastructure to control the second wave of COVID. Revenue Minister and Minister in charge of Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district, Mr. Jaisingh Agrawal, congratulated Chief Minister for providing health facilities in the new district. Member of Parliament Smt. Jyotsna Mahanta thanked Chief Minister for opening this COVID Hospital to provide better treatment facility to COVID patients. Marwahi MLA Dr. K.K. Dhruva also congratulated Chief Minister and the villagers for the opening of this new health facility in the district.

On the occasion, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Subrata Sahu, Principal Secretary of Forest Department Mr. Manoj Pingua, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief of Forest Force Mr. Rakesh Chaturvedi, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Mr. Arun Kumar Pandey were also present.
