Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Hockey Stadium or Raipur International Hockey Stadium Hill Stadium is located in Raipur in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. A new Inter Stadium in the capital of Chhattisgarh was inaugurated on August 29, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the great Major Dhyanchand, on the occasion of National Sports Day. With a capacity of 4000 spectators, this is the second internal stadium with a blue astroturf after the stadium at Rajnandgaon in Chhattisgarh.It is named after Indian independence activist and politician Vallabhbhai Patel. The stadium was constructed over a period of four months in a record time and at a cost of Rs 18 crore. It was inaugurated in November 2015. In December 2015, the 2014-15 World Men’s Final was hosted.The stadium was inaugurated on the 109th birth anniversary of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand and inaugurated by Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Gaurishankar Agarwal and the statue of Sardar Patel was inaugurated at the entrance of the stadium. The stadium saw India play their first match as an exhibition match between the A ‘and India India B’ teams with 16 national level matches each of the Indian male players with Glasgow Commonwealth Games silver medalists.In December 2015, the stadium hosted the men’s World League final in 2014–15. The first match played at the stadium was on 19 November 2015 between India’s men’s national field hockey team and Australia’s men.
